china's put its yellow fingers into africa's interior for many years, putting little men hunched over gleaming steel lines across vast wastelands connecting little dense islands of crumbling people and hopes with socialist dreams of unity and all that's changed is the rhetoric. people still beam at shiny objects that fill "import" expos in the smaller towns and then hold them up as the paradigm of quality at least as compared to indian manufactured goods. put it in your mouth, build buy build. china's more honest about its plans by cloaking it within one layer of rhetoric while western governments hide their crassness with more poise. france did it in iraq and china's just stealing our language when it calls its investment development assistance. get your foot in the door and kick it open and it's yours
